Middle School and Concert Choir

Day One: Listen to a recording online of one of our pieces. Answer the following questions:

1. What do you like about this performance (what are the performers doing well)?

2. What could be better about this performance?

3. What could we apply from this performance to our own?

Day Two: Go to musictheory.net and complete the lesson on the staff, clefs, and ledger lines. Write one paragraph about what you learned.

 

**Please do the following CLA's for the week of March 16-20**

Day Three: Pick a piece that we are currently working on. Fill in the key signature and solfege syllables for the whole piece. If you do not have music at home with you please email me (krschultz@tvschools.org), tell me which piece you'd like to complete this assignment for, and I will scan a copy of the music to you.

Day Four: Practice your music singing along with a recording. Please write three things you worked and improved on when you practiced (i.e. pitch, vowels, etc).

Day Five: Watch the following TedTalk about singing and write a reflection about it. What did you learn? Do you agree with the the presenter's thoughts on how music enriches lives and communities?

Day Six (March 23): We will begin using SmartMusic to continue singing during this time. Your assignment for today is to create a SmartMusic account and enroll in our class. There is a class for Concert Choir and one for Middle School Choir. Be sure to read the instructions carefully to ensure that you join the correct class. The instructions for joining your class are located on the page "Enrolling in SmartMusic" When you are finished enrolling, send me an email (krschultz@tvschools.org)

 

Day Seven and Eight  (March 25 & 27): Please complete the assignment on SmartMusic. It is from the "Sing At First Sight."  If you are still having problems connecting on SmartMusic, please send me an email and I will do my best to help you.

Please use this week to complete and finish all previous work. Your work needs to be turned in by email, or hard copy to the school by MAY 15. There are hard copies outside the high school and middle school in the "pick up" tub.
