  • CLA 15 for May 8

    CLA for May 8

    Do 1 CLA this week. Due Friday, May 1

    CLA #14  Create a COVID playlist. Compile a list of 5-8 songs that you have been listening to during your COVID-19 stay at home. Tell me which one is your favorite and why. Post the list on Google Classroom or send it to me via email.

  • Grades for the 4th nine weeks

    Students please take note. This concerns your grade for the 4th nine weeks  

    1) All previously assigned CLA's will need to be submitted by the end of this week - by Friday, May 1.  Students should submit their work to you electronically. If a student isn't able to submit work electronically, we will have tubs available near the front entrance of the high school.  Students should place their work in an envelope or plastic bag with their name on it. 

    2) Beginning now, students can submit current work as they complete the assignments. Again, please encourage electronic submission. The bins will be available at all times for students who need to drop off hard copies of work. 

    3) All student work must be submitted NO LATER THAN Friday, May 15. We will not accept work after that date.

    CLA #9—Using the attachment (it is in the files to the right--Music Representing Emotions Worksheet)—list musical pieces that you listen to that represent the emotions listed. Answer the following questions—Are you currently listening to a lot of music?  Are you listening to different kinds of music—pop, country, Jazz, classical, etc.? Does listening to music help you with the emotions you feel?  Do the pieces you are listening to right now help you cope with all the changes of Covid-19? If so, how does the music you listen to help you cope or feel better?

    CLA #10--Using the daily practice chart attached in the Files section of my teacher webpage, review the following scales this week—Db, Gb and the Chromatic [practice them on half, quarter, and eighth notes]. Record yourself performing one of these scales and upload it to Google Classroom.

     CLA #11--Explore Sight Reading Factory online. It is currently free. Read 3-5 exercises on as many levels as you can.  Tell me on Google Classroom how you did.  Do you like Sight Reading Factory? Did you find it useful or challenging?

    CLA #6--Cultural music and dinner night!--based upon what you have readily available, identify the culture in which the meal that you are helping your parents prepare is from (for example--tacos).  Then select 2-3 music selections that represent this culture. Prepare dinner with your parents as you listen and discuss the music selections and other tidbits that you may know or have learned about this culture. Please share a picture of you and your family with the prepared food items and tell me what music you listened to OR send me a short write up of what you did and learned! Bon appetite! Enjoy!

     

    CLA #7--Practice a piece of music that you enjoy or love. Record yourself playing it and share the recording virtually with me, and another family member, grandparent, or friend.  Tell us why this is one of your favorite music selections.

     

    CLA #8--Choose a new musical artist to listen to this week. Send me the name of the artist and what you listened too.

    CLA 3,4, & 5--Practice The Challenger March, Blue Ridge Saga, and Great Locomotive Chase. Record a segment of one of your practices and upload it to Google Classroom. There are instructions in the Files window under Google Classroom Information to help you learn how to upload to Google Classroom. Our Class Code is in the announcements section.
