Library Services & Policies

The aim of the library is to serve the majority of students in the best way possible. The rules and regulations are made with that aim in mind.

The library is a resource center for students for researching reports, papers, compositions, and for enhancing general knowledge. Therefore, it is essential that persons in the library keep quiet! Talking disturbs those who come to work. Eating or grooming is not permitted.  Students are not to be behind the circulation desk or in any workroom without permission.

If you are a student in study hall, secure permission from the study hall monitor to enter the library. Once you sign into the library, you must remain until dismissed. A student is not to be in the library for an entire period, more often than once per day. Honor Passes may be given to students whose behavior is exemplary and whose purposes are scholarly. The library is to be used only for research work and recreational reading. Students with classroom assignments, which do not require information resources, must remain in study hall. Vandalism will equal total loss of privileges.

  •  Sign out books properly for a two-week (10 school days) period with a renewal option
  •  Students will put all Reference material back in their proper place and return all other items not being checked out to the carts for re-shelving, so the next student can find them easily.
  •  Current magazines, newspapers, and most reserve books do not leave the library, they are checked out at the circulation desk, used in the library, and returned by the end of the period. Back issues of magazines may be signed out for two weeks.
  •  Overnight items (including reference books and videos) may be checked out at the end of the school day and are to be returned during homeroom of the following day.
  • Books and magazines not returned or returned in damaged condition will cost the replacement value of the book
  •  Students who have overdue books will not be allowed to check out additional materials. Failure to pay library obligations or failure to return library materials may result in temporary or permanent loss of library privileges.
  • Computer usage is restricted to those with a signed computer usage form who maintain their good standing by respecting equipment, software, and the need for quiet in the library.
  • Other services available are photocopier, pen/pencil/notebook dispenser, video production, laminating, binding, die-cut lettering, and audiovisual resources, etc.
