I am Mr. Archer, and this is my 24th year at Tri-Valley High School. I earned my Bachelors degree at Denison University and my Masters at The Ohio State University.

My wife teaches language arts at Nashport Elementary and my oldest daughter is a 6th grader there. My youngest daughter is a 2nd grader at Starlight School.

I enjoy serving at my church, watching Ohio State football and basketball, and spending time with my family. I hope we all have great school year!

2019-20 School Year
Welcome to English Class!! Sure, English is the language we all speak everyday. So What !!! So what does that mean?
Yes, it does mean we, as learners (including myself) need to speak well in the classroom and eventually out in the real world No one (including myself) speaks perfect Standard American English. If we expect to be respected by others, especially those in power, we need to improve. We can do this in many ways other than by getting up in front of a classroom and speaking (although we will likely do this eventually).
We can improve by reading good literature, writing about what we read, writing about what is happening or has happened in our lives, and many other ways. Literature is all about life, so I guarantee that there will be some selections that you will enjoy (maybe even Shakespeare or poetry!!).  Writing is all about thinking, only on paper. However, something that you will hear me say from time to time is this: Do not write (formally) as you speak (informally). So, English class is reading, writing and most importantly, thinking !
