Fifth graders need to be reading independently all the time for practice and pleasure. Each student will confer with a teacher to determine their goal for this quarter. AR books may be found in the school library, in the homeroom, or even at home. I created labels for each 5th grader to show the range of book levels they should be reading. Once students finish a book, they take a quiz about that book at school to earn points. Books may be read to or with the students. AR data will account for a language arts grade with double weight; therefore, meeting the criteria is important.
